Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Specialist provides individualized support and skill-building services to Amber Lantern’s clients who are living with serious mental health conditions.

Position Details

Compensation: $35 per hour
Schedule: Flexible, 15-40 hours per week
Position Type: Independent Contractor
Location: Various, within San Antonio

Position Summary

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Specialist provides individualized support and skill-building services to Amber Lantern’s clients who are living with serious mental health conditions. PSR Specialists are responsible for helping our clients achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life. This role focuses on promoting recovery, enhancing social functioning, and fostering community integration through evidence-based practices such as CAT Therapy and IMR.

This is an independent contractor position with flexible hours. Prior experience in the field is preferred; however paid training is provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Routinely meet with Amber Lantern, LLC clients to provide PSR services.

  • Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans in collaboration with clients and treatment teams.

  • Teach and reinforce daily living skills, coping strategies, and social skills.

  • Support clients in areas such as employment readiness, education, housing, and community engagement.

  • Advocate for client needs within the community and service systems.

  • Coordinate care with mental health professionals, social services, and other community resources.

  • Track client progress and adjust plans as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.

  • Encourage self-advocacy and independence in clients.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field is preferred.

  • 1–2 years working in mental health or rehabilitation setting is preferred.

  • Experience with recovery-oriented and person-centered approaches.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Knowledge of community resources and psychosocial rehabilitation principles.

  • Ability to travel to various work locations within the San Antonio Metro area.

  • Ability to work legally in the U.S. and pass an FBI background check

• Converse with residents to reinforce positive behaviors and to promote social interaction

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Food Handlers Permit (or willingness to obtain one) required

• Current and valid driver’s license and minimum liability insurance required

  • Remove trash and other debris from grounds

  • Assist in the preparation of the properties

  • Pressure wash exterior buildings, sidewalks, etc.

  • Assist with property emergencies, such as inclement weather emergencies, fires, and floods.

  • Address property maintenance concerns related to inclement weather conditions.

  • Promote customer satisfaction by maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and curb appeal, and interact courteously and professionally with current and potential residents

  • Preserve and respect applicant and resident confidentiality.

  • Foster a positive, active and collaborative relationship with residents and associated agencies.

  • Clearly and immediately report any maintenance and/or life safety issues identified while performing regular assigned duties.

Education and Experience
